Staying at La Mirande is a journey back through two centuries of exquisite, French, decorative art. Tiled and parquet floors, antique and custom-made carpets, reproduction wall-coverings designed in the 18th century and original tapestries, wood-panelling, master works of art, antique furniture and plush marble baths all come together to create a serene sense of period harmony throughout all of our 26 guest-rooms. The hotel boasts a blissful garden with terrace for dining ‘al fresco’ in the Summer, a wicker-furnished courtyard-conservatory for afternoon tea, the opulent “Salon Rouge” - a sitting-room with an open fire for cold and rainy days, the “Salon Chinois” where one can enjoy more tea or a hot chocolate, a softly-lit dining room with its double-coffered, Renaissance ceiling and 17th century, Aubusson tapestry, and the Old Kitchen where our famous cooking-classes take place. La Mirande is home to one of Avignon’s best restaurants. We also hold successful practical cooking-classes for local people as well as hotel-guests. They are held in the beautiful Old Kitchen which dates back to the turn of last century. The Old Kitchen is also used on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a lively ‘table haute’. The spirit of these special evenings consists in sharing a meal around one, single table for a maximum of 14 people and to appreciate the menu prepared in front of you by the chef who will cook using the original wood-burning, cast-iron stove which dates back to the 19th century.
