This tour will take us to the beautiful Provençal cities of Aix en Provence and Marseilles. Aix was once the capital of Provence during the 15th century and is filled with beautiful houses, private mansions, ancient fountains and shaded narrow streets. We’ll tour the Vieille Ville or Old Town, ringed by a circle of boulevards and squares, and visit Cours Mirabeau, a charming tree-lined avenue, home wonderful terrace cafés and bookshops. We’ll then move on to Marseilles, the administrative and commercial capital of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, one of France’s fastest growing regions. Here, we’ll travel through time, beginning with the city’s Greek and Roman origins, visiting the medieval religious foundations, the 16th Century fortifications, the rich homes of the 17th and 18th centuries and the grand buildings of the 19th to 21st centuries. You will also get the chance to visit to the busy harbor and lively waterfront, which hosts a fish market every morning.
