From mid-June to August each year, the high Provencal plateau becomes carpeted in purple gold. This purple gold is known as lavender, and during the summer months these lavender fields are one of the most iconic sights of Provence. This tour will follow some of the most scenic routes around the lavender fields, away from the crowded areas and mass tourism. During this tour, you’ll enjoy some of the most traditional areas of High Provence, including the Albion plateau and the Valensole plateau, punctuated with sweet-scented purple lavender fields and golden fields of wheat. We’ll also make stops at some of the most authentic villages in the area such as Sault and Banon, as well as picturesque villages of Simiane-la-Rotonde and Valensole, sitting atop lush hillsides and surrounded by fields of violet and lilac hues.
