A small city-state, the Principality of Monaco (Principatu de Munegu in Monegasque) continues to be the stuff which dreams are made of. Its capital city, Monte Carlo is a city of luxury and beauty, with its principal source of revenue coming from tourism. In addition to its language, Monegasque (munegascu) and culinary specialties, the little country is especially known for its Casino and gambling. Prince Albert II, who has been in power since 2005, has tried to make Monaco an example in ecology by not only raising the awareness of climate change, but by also giving preference to ecological construction. Amongst the Principality’s sight-seeing ‘musts’ are the Monte Carlo district with its famous «Carré d’or» with the Monte Carlo Casino, the Sporting d’Hiver and the Café de Paris. The city-state is divided into four districts: La Condamine, Les Moneghettis, Le Larvotto, the Fontvieille, and Monte Carlo.
