The graceful Chenonceau Castle sits across the Cher River and lies just east of the Loire city of Tours. Possibly the most romantic castle in Loire Valley, its princess-like white turrets soar towards the sky, and royal apartments sit right over the river like a bridge. Mostly built in the 16th century, the castle was the vision of Thomas Bohier and above all his wife, Catherine Briçonnet. Since then, it has been protected and resorted by a long succession of women who have carried on the castle’s legacy. Your tour will take you to see the chateau’s rich and ornate collections, its sumptuous rooms, décor and furniture, as well as art works by some of Europe’s most famous painters.
