Choose this tour and you’ll be taken to see the highlights of one of the most spectacular areas of Provence – the Alpilles mountain range. These mountains stretch from the Mont Ventoux to the Cévennes, and from Sainte Victoire Mountain to the Camargue. A chain of limestone cliffs, they’re surrounded by lush green fields and picturesque scenery. During the tour, we’ll visit the town of Saint-Rémy de Provence, where the painter Vincent Van Gogh spent a year living in an asylum and painting its surrounding landscapes. You’ll also get the chance to see the Romanesque masterpiece of the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole Monastery. Other places we’ll visit on our tour of the Alpilles include the town of Eygalières with its famous antiques market and the ancient citadel of Les Baux-de-Provence. We’ll also make a stop at the Valley of Hell or Val d’Enfer, a strange landscape made from soft sandstone rock, shaped by the elements.
