The Chateau de Chantilly is one of the finest jewels of France's cultural heritage. It is also the work of a man with an extraordinary destiny: Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale (1822-1897), fifth son of Queen Marie-Amélie and King Louis-Philippe, the last King of France. Thanks to the precautions taken by the Duke of Aumale in his will, Chantilly remains a showcase of preserved works where the charm of the 19th century continues to reign. With over 115 hectares of land, the gardens of the Château de Chantilly are made up of the varying fashions of each period: the French-style garden created by André Le Nôtre in the 17th century, the Anglo-Chinese Garden in the 18th century and the English Gardenin the 19th century. These grounds provide a unique testament to the relationship between man and nature in the western world. On the estate you will also find the Living Museum of the Horse, which presents the relationship between men and horses since the beginning of civilization. The Great Stables, which are devoted to the art of haute école horse training, offer equestrian shows throughout the year.
